Clinics vs Shows

Posted by SporthorseTV Editor at January 05. 2009

Does anyone have thoughts about spending money on clinics instead of shows? Are there times when you think this is a more worthwhile plan, if so why and under what circumstances? I've been having this discussion with myself and am leaning toward the educational path, at least for the early part of the year. I'd appreciate any feedback, discussions on pluses and minuses, etc.

I have done both and they help each other.  I also attended a Dressage Camp last summer.  It was great and I had fun and learned a lot.  I try to do a clinic or lesson between shows.  I go to schooling shows.6 each summer so far.  I am new to this.  I got high 60s last summer on intro and low 69s on training level 1 and 2.  This year I want to get ourt of intro and get some upper 60s and 70 in T4.  My horse is getting a better shape and muscle and is ready .  I need a lot of flex work and endurance so I am doing Yoga and swimming.  The dressag ecamp had some yoga and I thought it helped.  I also did a dressage clinic with pilates and that helped too.
