What does winter mean for your training?

Posted by Kara Kask at December 20. 2008

How does the inclement weather effect your training? Do you move locations in the winter and travel to a warmer area? Or do you stay and give your horses time off or change your training plans? Does the winter make you concentrate on different areas of your riding? I know that during the winter our jumping rings are often closed after rain and we then have to focus more on flat work, much to my horse's displeasure. But in the end it works for us as flat work always helps the jumping, as much as we don't like to admit it. Tell everyone how your winter training changes and what has been the most effective plan for you.
